Nasal polyps are benign inflammatory growths within the nose and sinuses that can cause persistent nasal blockage, congestion, reduced sense of smell, facial pressure and recurrent sinus problems. Assessment may include nasal endoscopy and imaging where appropriate.

Treatment is tailored to the severity and underlying cause and may include nasal sprays and other medical therapies, newer treatments for selected patients with severe inflammatory disease, or endoscopic sinus surgery when symptoms persist despite appropriate medical treatment.

Determining the cause of a blocked nose is important, as symptoms may arise from several different areas of the nasal airway. Our specialists provide comprehensive assessment, including in-room nasal endoscopy and rhinomanometry, which can objectively assess nasal airflow where appropriate.
